WASHINGTON, DC (ANI) – As India celebrated its 78th Independence Day on August 15, Indian Americans here too dived into celebrations at the Indian embassy.
India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, hoisted the tricolor at India House, with members of the community, the Cricket Association for the Blind in India, as well as others present.
Kwatra, who has just arrived in the election season and has not yet presented his credentials, greeted the crowd and during his speech spoke of India’s growing importance economically on the global stage noting “The country has become the fifth-largest economy in the world.”
The program included a special Bharatnatyam performance on ‘Jayate Jayate Bharat Mata.’ An award ceremony was also held for the young winners of a painting competition organized by the Embassy. (Courtesy: https://indiawest.com/)
