Sadiq Khan is the Mayor of London will be a keynote speaker at SXSW.
When Sadiq Khan, a British-born Muslim of Pakistani descent, was elected with the largest personal mandate in the history of British politics, the world spotlight turned on him.
According to NDTV website, Sadiq Khan “smashed one of the biggest glass ceilings in the country” by becoming the first Muslim mayor of a major western capital.
His election sent out the message that people are ready to converge ideas and unite regardless of race or religion.
This is a positive message in the light of the polarization that has divided people.
It also made clear that the world would follow whom they want regardless of the political boundaries that separate countries.
Sadiq Khan (@sadiqkhan) has a huge US following because of his critical tweets about Donald Trump.
Sadiq Khan stands unafraid to say the word of the people he stands for and for that he is admired all over the world.
In January 2018, President Donald Trump cancelled his trip to London.
While Trump blamed the cancellation on Obama, Sadiq Khan wrote on his twitter account, “It appears that President Trump got the message from the many Londoners who admire America and Americans but find his policies and actions the polar opposite of our city’s values of inclusion, diversity, and tolerance,” Khan wrote.
Before becoming the Mayor of London, Sadiq had a distinguished Parliamentary career as the Member of Parliament for Tooting, a constituency in south London.
He served as a Minister in both the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Department for Transport under Prime Minister Gordon Brown, becoming the first Muslim to attend Cabinet.
He later served as the Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and the Shadow Minister for London. Sadiq was born and raised in London. He is of Pakistani decent. He is passionate about.
According to NDTV London Mayor Sadiq Khan, son of a bus driver from Pakistan, is the most influential Asian in the UK, according to a list featuring Britain’s 101 prominent Asians, including Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, the Hinduja brothers, Laxmi Mittal and musician Zayn Malik.
